In 1992, under the leadership of Dr. Billy Murphy, the church renovated the existing building increasing the seating in the sanctuary with space for 110 people to seating for 150. The church also added approximately 5,700 sq. ft. for an Office, Fellowship Hall and Sunday School classes. The addition was constructed by volunteers from the church and a mission crew from Minden and Mt. Enterprise, Texas. The guest builders were part of a group from Texas known as Volunteer Christian Builders. The brick were also laid using volunteers with church members providing help in handling bricks, mortor and cleanup duties. At the time of this new construction, the church was averaging 80 people in Sunday School and 110 in worship.

On August 26, 1993, the church burned after lightning struck the steeple. Within two weeks, the congregation of Atwood's Cumberland Presbyterian Church graciously invited our congregation to meet at their church (they were without a pastor) until the church building was rebuilt. They asked to have only one Sunday School classroom and Howse church people to use remainder of their facilities.

In July 1994, the congregation moved into the present facilities.
During the months of reconstruction, many close friendships were formed and now 5 local churches began meeting in joint services usually twice per year. The joint service rotates between the host churches and a pastor other than the host church pastor is responsible for each service. The host church provides food for a fellowship meal following the service. The participating churches are as follows:
Christ's Chapel Church
Cumberland Presbyterian Church
First Baptist Church
Howse Baptist Church
United Methodist Church
